NEW SITE LAUNCHED!!

Kazoomzoom.com has been fully launched! Check out the great work all these fun people have accomplished for kids. There are four musical releases and four paper toys. In the coming days, the first audio books will be added, as well. Kudos to all who made this possible! So much love!

This is very much a "beta" version of the site, because we are sparce on content. It is also beta, because it was designed by me, and I am obviously not a designer. Know someone who is? Would be awesome to really give Kazoomzoom.com a cool look.

"Humble beginnings" indeed, but we are doing it, everyone! It is really happening! Hurray! I toast you all and look forward to the future of this cool project!

Some Frequently Asked Questions

Soooooo, how does this work?
It is a netlabel that provides free music, audio books, print toys and other fun stuff online to kids. We are encouraging kids to submit content, as well.

Who owns the rights to what?
Copyrights belong to the artists and writers. We are hoping artists will go for the Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike License, so that we can mirror on the Internet Archive. This particular license means that:
(a) if your content is used by others, users must note that you made it
(b) no one can make money using your content without getting your consent
(c) if anyone modifies your content (like remixes), they must then share what they create with this same license

However, all artists choose whatever copyright system they prefer. From full rights to public domain, it is all written into the online submission form.

Is there some sort of selection process for what music is on your label?
We are building a staff who can help out with A&R and deciding if the material is appropriate.

Are you selling anything?
No, no way. This is all volunteer, all for the kids. (read more...)

Imagine It Might Sound Like This!

Why is so much children's music limited to single guitar folk songs? Kids, just like the rest of us, are into all sorts of sounds.
This short mix features excerpts from music and stories that kids enjoy. The scope is wide, and we hope this netlabel will offer kids a full spectrum of musical styles and audio books.

22 minutes of excerpts of fun sounds and stories(works best in Firefox, IE users play here)

Welcome!

Welcome to the Project Hub, a site for collaborations with fellow musicmakers, artists and writers associated with the children's netlabel. The Hub helps participants all over the planet to interact and to keep informed on current projects and activities.

As the first netlabel for kids, we are making history together! It features music for kids by kids and by cool grownups, as well as audio stories, printable books and paper toys. All of it is free.

Here are a few of the current opportunities with the project:

Open Collaborative Compilations
Musicmakers of all ages are invited to appear on compilations with
these themes: Kids Performing (collection of performances featuring kids
from 0-17), Silly Songs (compilation of the most silly songs and bouncy
instrumentals), Fun Electronica (upbeat and happy electro tunes to please all
ages). (and many more)

Toymakers
Everyone is invited to try their hand at making printable paper toys, as well as Flash based interactive toys and games. Some ideas you might want to work with are paper models, paper dolls, origami instructions and crafts. (more info)

Storybooks
We are looking for submissions from people of all ages: folks to write stories, folks to illustrate stories, folks to read stories and folks to produce stories (add music and effects). (learn more)

New Projects Continue to Form
It is true! We are continually thinking up new activities, so everyone can be involved!
